According to Wroe, the bite force of the cheetah is higher at the canines, although lower at the carnassials. The following statistics were assigned to both
animals in Wroe's most recent bite force study, where one is the canine bite force, two is the carnassial bite force, three is the bite force quotient at
the canines, and four is the bite force quotient at the carnassials (using a 46.8-kilogram cheetah and 20.8-kilogram clouded leopard):
Cheetah 1. 338.8 newtons 2. 509.1 newtons 3. 72.7 4. 72.3 Clouded leopard 1. 334.2 newtons 2. 544.3 newtons 3. 122.4 4. 130.6 |
