I've noticed the scaling issues seem to boil down to the skull (excluding the sillier comparisons - i.e. 350 lb Lion compared with 700 lb Tiger
).
Bonns has suggested that the difference in skull size is a centimetre or so (I'm assuming this means at equal weights)?
I was always under the impression that, relative to body size and weight, the Lion has the larger skull. I don't know by how much as this is my impression (I could be wrong but what are the odds of that?
)
Peter has provided some info (and so has Bold) about skulls and where the Lion differs from the Tiger.
I think we need to have a discussion surrounding skulls, body dimensions and how this relates to setting up accurate scaling. Otherwise it's really a case of Tiger and Lion fans each posting their comparisons and both sides rejecting each other's comparisons due to disputes over accurate scaling.
Can we start by trying to establish some consensus on relative skull sizes?
